Gardaí renew appeal for help to trace missing North Cork woman
GARDAÍ Investigating the disappearance of a North Cork woman who has been missing from her Youghal home since March have renewed their appeal for information on tracing her whereabouts.
Tina Satchwell (nee Dinigivan), who is originally from Sr Bernard’s Place in Fermoy, has not been seen since March 20. The renewed appeal from Gardaí comes after her husband Richard made an emotional public appeal for his wife to “come home” on last Monday nights edition of RTÉ’s Crimecall.
“Tina come home, there’s nobody mad at you. My arms are open. The pets are missing you. I just can’t go on not knowing,” said Mr Satchwell.
“Even if you just ring the guards, let people know that you are alright.”
His words were echoed by Midleton based Detective Sergeant Detective Sean Leahy, who told The Corkman that they were “very concerned” for Ms Satchwell and were treating the case as “high risk disappearance.”
“We would appeal to Tina to make a call and get in contact. All we want to know is that she is safe and sound. We do not need to know where she is, just that she is safe,” said Det Sgt Leahy.
He said that Gardai were familiar with Ms Satchwell’s movements up until her disappearance sometime between 10am and noon on Monday, March 20 when her husband return to their home after a shopping trip to Dungarvan and found she was gone. Her mobile phone and the keys were still on a table in the house.
After making enquiries with her family, Mr Satchwell contacted Gardaí four days later after his wife had failed to return home.
Gardaí subsequently undertook a forensic examination of a house in Youghal and have viewed CCTV footage and searched phone records in an effort to trace Ms Satchwell.
She is described as being 5ft 7in tall, of medium build with blonde shoulder length hair and blue eyes.
Det Sgt Leahy said that Gardaí had received calls from a number of locations across the country from concerned members of the public reporting sightings of a woman fitting Ms Satchwell’s description.
“We have investigated all of these calls and ruled them out. We are keeping an openmind about Ms Satchwell’s whereabouts. This is an ongoing investigation and will remain so until it comes to some sort of conclusion,” he said.
Speaking on the Crimecall programme Ms Satchwell’s aunt, Margaret Maher, said it was not like her niece to go missing without making contact with anyone.
“It’s very out of character for her. I wouldn’t feel she would go anywhere on her own. She’s not a person to do that.”
Gardai have appealed for anyone with information about Ms Satchwell to contact Midleton Garda Station on 021 462 1550, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
