Air ambulance boosted by coffee morning

-

PATRONS supped a great cuppa at a successful coffee morning that helped raise much needed funds for a new Air Ambulance Service for Munster.

The success of the venture allowed hosts Anne Marie and Jerry O’Mahony in the company of family members present the proceeds of €5,450 to Ann Kelly representing the Air Ambulance.

Fittingly, the occasion remembered the late Eimear O’Mahony whose untimely death two years ago caused widespread regret.

Her memory lives on, evident from the formal presentation to the Irish Community Air Ambulance that took place in the picturesque setting of Eimear’s Garden against the backdrop of Clara Mountain.

Proceeds will support an Air Ambulance Service operating out of Cork Airport, a mobile intensive care unit staffed by a team of highly qualified and specially trained trauma doctors who can be on site in the fastest time possible.

The helicopter will be able to reach most parts of Munster within 30-minutes, its launch will bring better response times with permanent on-duty doctors who will have the ability to bring advanced skills to acutely ill and injured people throughout its catchment area.

It will offer a mobile intensive care unit by air which will allow the safe transport of patients to a major hospital, saving time and lives.
