Killavullen have huge win over Fermoy in Division 1 FL

KILLAVULLEN recorded one of their biggest wins ever in Junior football when they had 19 points to spare over Fermoy in the concluding round Cavanagh’s Fermoy Division 1 FL at Killavullen.
From the start the winners were quick to gain control. They used the short passing at speed to great effect and the point scoring of Liam Cronin was exceptional. Long serving Bartley Hayes had two goals in quick succession in the opening half that opened up a lead 2-7 to 0-4. By half time the winners were 2-10 to 0-5 clear. Fermoy’s points by Mattie Condon and Ronan O’Hagan.
On the resumption Eric Delaney had an early point for Fermoy with O’Hagan making it 2-10 to 0-7 after 34 minutes. Colm O’Connell had a Killavullen goal with Paul O’Sullivan netting and making it 4-11 to 0-7 soon after. Points for the winners by Seamus Fox, Liam Cronin, Paul O’Sullivan and Sean O’Regan edged them 4-15 to 0-8 ahead.
In between Shane Aherne put Cian O’Carroll through for a Fermoy point. Mattie Condon had a late goal for Fermoy in the 48th minute 4-15 to 1-8. Killavullen kept up the pressure.
David Brosnan kicked three late points while Fermoy had a late Cian O’Carroll point.
This win ensures Killavullen a semi-final meeting with Kilworth while Buttevant will meet Kilshannig in the second semi-final.
