OLLIE DUGDALE, CHAIRMAN, NEWMARKET COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION
ON behalf of Newmarket Community Development Association I would like to extend a warm invitation to everybody to come and enjoy our local festivals this summer.
Our annual summer festival kicks off this weekend with a wonderful line up of events to cater for all ages. It is without doubt the biggest and best festival around right here in the heart of Duhallow.
We are also delighted to welcome the annual Scully’sfest to town in August. This celebration of our musical heritage has gotten bigger and better each year and is supported in huge numbers.
Its a credit to our community to have two wonderful commitees organising these events. We appreciate their time and tremendous hard work and we thank them for promoting and showcasing all that is positive about our unique and brilliant community.
This coming November our local girls school are holding a big fundraising event in the Hi-land to raise funds for an extension to the school. The Who Wants To Be a Thousandaire quiz is sure to be a great night and I would urge all to support it.
Speaking on behalf of the community development association, I would like to thank our partners in Cork County Council for their help and support in our local projects as we continue to invest our time and funding back into all corners of our community.
Thanks also to our Tidy Towns volunteers who have been busy planting flowers and litter picking in their areas throughout the community.
We hope to see you all locals and visitors from our surrounding area and beyond as Newmarket provides a summer of exciting events. We encourage you to avail of the many great shops and services our town has to offer where service always comes with a smile.
There is no warmer welcome in the world than a Newmarket welcome so come and share in what our community has to offer.
