U12 FINAL

Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones that ventured to Newmarket on Thursday evening last for the North Cork U12 football final between Boherbue and Dromtariffe. Unfortunately the Boher boys finished at the wrong end of a 4-9 to 4-8 scoreline at the end of extra time. Nevertheless, I was happy to witness a hectic battle.

The winners had the upper hand regarding height in a few vital areas which is a huge advantage at this age, but in the areas of sheer determination, skill and bravery, Boher were streets ahead.

It was an uplifting experience to see these young lads from both sides give it their all for their clubs. Credit too to the mentors and parents who put so much time and effort into training, transport to games etc. You are to be complimented in the standard you achieved with these players, who no doubt have a bright future ahead.

The selectors are Danny Moynihan, Benedict Murphy and Seán Michael Murphy.
