NORTH CORK WOMAN IS A WEB HIT WITH BEYONCE SPOOF
POPULAR singer and harmonica player Philip King of Scullion fame will officially open the inaugural Mallow Arts Festival at the Hibernian Hotel next Wednesday.
The event will signal the start of a packed five-day schedule of cultural events at venues across the town with a programme to suit all ages and tastes.
Organised by the committee of the Mallow Arts Collective, the aim of the festival is to provide a number of different types of arts and cultural events for the people of Mallow.
“The programme incorporates music, drama, visual art, literature and craft, attracting quality performances and exhibitions to the town. In addition, the festival will provide space for locals professional and amateur artists, musicians, writers and with a platform to express themselves,” said a committee spokesman.
“Through the festival we also hope to provide the wider public with an opportunity to engage in experimental leaning through inclusion in workshops and community activities,”
One of Cork’s favourite musical sons, the inimitable John Spillane, will set the tone for the festival with a concert on the opening night at 7.30pm in the Hibernian Hotel with support from Mallow singer/songwriter Dave Skinner.
Over the course of the following four days venues including the Hibernian Hotels, Mallow Library, St James Church and pubs across the town will host events across a diverse range of interests, many of which will be free.
