COUNTY U-21 B FC QUARTER-FINAL Kilshannig 4-19 Shamrocks 0-3

THIS County Under-21 B FC quarter final at Mayfield on Thursday evening was very one sided. The winners had the aid of the stiff breeze in the first half and they were in complete control. They gained a foothold from the start and the outcome was never in doubt.

Alan O’Connell had the opening score a goal from a free after 3 minutes. Jack Twomey and Darragh O’Sullivan followed with rapid points. They had further points in the 12th and 15th minutes by Alan O’Connell and Jack Twomey before Darragh O’Sullivan goaled from the penalty spot in the 20th minute 2-4 to 0-0.

David Andrews pointed for the South East side in the 2lst minute. The Glantane side had a series of points by Alan O’Connell (free) Jack Twomey and Jack Kearney to open up a lead 2-8 to 0-1.

In injury time Jack Twomey put Jerome Murphy through for a goal with Alan O’Connell with a very late point helping the winners to an interval lead 3-9 to 0-1.

On the restart Shamrocks had the aid of the stiff breeze. Kilshannig had six points in the third quarter by Dermot Twomey, Alan O’Connell, Jack Kearney (2) Darragh O’Sullivan and Jack Twomey that had them 3-15 to 0-1 ahead. Andrew O’Grady pointed a free for Shamrocks in the 46th minute.

Further points for Kilshannig by Eanna O’Hanlon, Eoin O’Sullivan and Jack Kearney were followed by Shamrock’s 3rd point in the 57th minute 3-18 to 0-3. Jack Kearney finished the scoring with a late goal and a point. The Avondhu side will now meet Naomh Aban in the Co semi final where they should encounter far tougher opposition.
