Handballers involved in Munster 60x30 fixtures
MUNSTER 60x30 championship programme continues during the coming week and will feature a number of singles finals. Starting this Thursday evening in Broadford Junior B Singles Final is down for decision with Shane Flynn, Boherbue, taking on Cian Counihan, Kerry, in what promises to be a close contest,Shane had a tough battle with Daire Keane, Kerry, in last Monday’s semi final played in Broadford finally getting over the line on a score 1221, 21-12, 21-10.
All concerned are asked to notes all fixtures during the coming week have a 7.30pm start, On Friday at Broadford venue both semi-finals of Minor Singles are down for decision both Cork v Tipperary clashes, David Walsh, Mallow, plays Jerome Cahill, while Conor Walsh, Mallow, faces James Prentice. Moving to Monday evening at Thurles there is a double header down for decision. In Intermediate Singles Daniel Relihan, Liscarroll, plays John Paul O’Connor, Limerick. Cork could also be involved in the second game: if Ken O’Neill, Mallow, succeeds in defeating David Moloney, Tippperary in Masters A Singles semi-final then he will face Paul Hedderman, Limerick, in the Final.
On Tuesday evening at Dungarvan Golden Masters A Singles Final is down for decision with John Herlihy,St Finbarrs taking on Kevin Mullins, Tipperary. There is also a double header down for decision on Tuesday at a venue to be decided which will feature Junior Singles semi-final Jamie O’Donnell, Fermoy, if he can overcome John Ferncombe, Tipperary, in his quarter-final clash would be involved there.
In the second game which is Over-35 A Final Cork involvement will again depend on a result If Colm Jordan, Fermoy, succeeds in defeating Dominic Lynch, Kerry, in their semi-final clash then he will feature in this final. Both Minor Singles and Golden Masters B Singles Finals are down for Wednesday evening with Cork involvement dependent on weekend results and venues on the pairings involved.
Sunday will be a busy day in Cullen with County 60x30 Juvenile Championship Finals Boys and Girls down for decision with a 10am start. The full programme of finals cover from U-12 Singles & Doubles to U-17 Singles with six clubs represented and most of the top juveniles in the county involved Sundays finals should produce some top class games and will also be a pointer towards the fortunes on Cork teams in the forthcoming Munster Singles & Doubles and team championships. Following Sunday’s Finals the County Juvenile Committee will begin the process of finalising who will go forward to Munster championship in the different age groups.
Last Saturday at Roscommon venue Mount Talbot All Ireland One Wall semi-finals and Finals were decided, Cork players were involved in five semi-finals and had to settle for one All Ireland title that courtesy of Catriona Casey, Ballydesmond, who retained the Ladies Open Singles title defeating Pauline Gallagher, Mayo, in the Final 15-5, 15-3.
Cork also reached the Final of Men’s C with Gearoid O’Connell, Mallow, defeating Collie Turley, Down, in their semi-final clash 15-12, 15-7 but subsequently lost the final to Conor Noone, Galway.
In Ladies C grade Anna Dunne, Kilworth, lost her semi-final clash to Michelle McCoy, Down, 15-12,15-3. In Boys U-15 semi-final Darragh Ducey, Boherbue, lost to Cahir Munroe, Tyrone, 15-3, 15-12. In Boys U-17 Niall Delany, Mallow, lost to Dara Curran,Tyrone 15-9, 15-6 with Curran going on to score an easy win in the final.
