Mallow 1-22 Castlehave­n 0-8

MALLOW had their biggest win on record in the league on Saturday evening when they easily disposed of Castlehave­n in Mallow.

Both sides were short about three or four key players. Disaster struck Castlehave­n in the opening minutes when they lost two key players through injury David Limerick and Ronan Walsh.

Both sides had wides with Mallow ahead 1-8 to 0-2. In the closing moments Kieran O’Sullivan pointed a Mallow free with Stephen Hurley placing Conor Cahalane who pointed leaving the winners 1-9 to 0-3 clear at the break.

Mallow pushed on in the second half. Cian O’Riordan had for points with Killian O’Connor pointing in the 44th minute. Shane Hurley and Conor Cahalane kept the Carbery side in touch with points 1-14 to 0-5.

There was no way back for Castlehave­n as Mallow showed the greater hunger, determinat­ion, teamwork, and scoring power. By the 47th minute they led 1-16 to 0-6. They tagged on six more points in the last quarter while Sean Dineen and Conor Cahalane had a point each for Castlehave­n.

These Div 1 FL points were very welcome for Mallow who will be all out to maintain their Div 1 FL status for the coming year.
