Loads of vintage fun on offer at Cullen threshing day
THE Cullen and District Special Needs Association Old Time Threshing and Vintage Festival takes place on Sunday next on the grounds of Cullen GAA Ground commencing at 1pm.
All kinds of vintage tractors, cars and engines are promised for a fun day out for all the family in an idyllic setting in a programme supplemented by children sports, novelty events and live entertainment.
Some of the oldest machinery in the country will be on parade as the threshing machine will drone away for hours separating rich golden corn from the sheafs to ensure a constant audience of all ages.
Over 100 exhibitors have sought space and on view will be all kinds of machinery from the thresher to tractors, machinery, old household and farmyard equipment. Adding to the occasion is a feast of entertainment to satisfy the needs of young and old with numerous sideshow attractions ranging from children sports to a pet dog show and much more.
For the 19th hosting in 2017, all kinds of vintage tractors, cars and engines are promised for a fun day geared for all the family in an idyllic setting that’s become a fixed event in the North Cork and Sliabh Luachra calendar, coinciding with local feast day ‘Laitiarain Sunday.
Preparations have been in place for many months, machines are being oiled, belts repaired and the oat sheaves harvested last autumn
Elsewhere Children’s sports operate from 2pm with face painting, bouncing castle, rat roulette, drive the nail, guess name of doll, guess no. of logs in trailer, penalty kick, raffle, lucky dip and other side shows set to cater for all tastes.
