LAHARN CROSS AS PART OF NATIONAL HERITAGE WEEK

Laharn Cross is delighted to be part of National Heritage Week again this year which runs from August 19 to August 27.

There will be two dancing at the crossroads events as part of National Heritage Week – Sunday, August 20, and Sunday, August 27, both commencing at 8 p.m.

National Heritage Week is coordinated by the Heritage Council and its aim is to build awareness and education about our heritage thereby encouraging its conservation and preservation.

Each year, during the last week of August, many national and hundreds of local community organisations participate by organising events throughout the country.

Many of the events that take place during the week are free and the programme highlights the abundance of great work that is carried out in all communities in Ireland to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage.

The dancing at the crossroads is only one of thousands of events planned across the county of Cork and countrywide for the week. More info on all other heritage events is available on heritageweek.ie.

We look forward to welcoming as many new visitors to Laharn Cross as possible which no doubt will be a great success.

PATSY O’CONNELL, RIP.

It is with great sadness we heard of the sudden passing of our good neighbour Patrick (Patsy) O’Connell during the last week. Patsy was a very loveable character who spend many happy years living near Laharn Cross where he settled from his native Lackandarra. From his days when he used to work with Coillte and in recent times during his retirement, we always loved to see Patsy out and about.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his niece Sheila Crowley of Laharn and to all Patsy’s family on his untimely passing. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
