Rathcormac road race

ATHLETES from clubs across Cork have been invited to test their fitness levels at the inaugural Jump Juice Bars Rathcormac 4-Mile Road Race on Friday, August 25.

Organised by the Bride Rovers Ladies Football and Camogie Club and Max Runners in conjunctio­n with the Castlelyon­s based St Nicholas Athletic Club the race will get underway at 7.30pm.

It will follow a route from the Terramount Road to the Castlelyon­s Pitch and Putt Club before returning to the starting point near the Shanowen housing estate.

“The course is considerab­ly flat and fast and will attract a lot of interest from runners. The race has been approved by Athletics Ireland, has received a permit and will be chip time,” said and event spokespers­on.

The race is open to runners over the age of 16 and will be split into different categories including junior, different age groups and a wheelchair category.

There will be prizes for the first three men and first three women across the finish line.

Post race Refreshmen­ts will be provided in the Rathcormac Community Hall.

The entry fee will be €10, with runners able to register from 6pm on the evening.
