A PACKED collection of prized vintage and classic vehicles are promised at the Millstreet Vintage and Family Fun Day in Millstreet Town Park on Sunday, August 27.

Proceeds from the staging will go towards Cancer Connect, a service that helps remove the burden of having to make travel arrangements by offering a free and flexible transport service to Cork hospitals from North and West Cork for people receiving radiotherapy, chemotherapy and related treatments.

The event is a vintage and family fun day get together with all types of vintage, classic and modified cars, tractors, bikes, trucks and stationary machines.

Millstreet Vintage Club PRO Bernard Crowley indicated that the spacious Millstreet Town Park will be filled with rare vintage cars and tractors on the day while owners of these unique exhibits will be on hand to give information on their prized possessions which they have carefully restored and cared for over the years.

“With the use of such an ideal location the hosting will allow vintage displays to be showcased to their best advantage outdoors,” said Bernard.

“Apart from the class vintage cars, tractors and machinery, the day also sees a slice of arts and crafts, home baking, face painting, bouncing castles, live entertainment and the ever popular ‘ tractor build’ with the Broomhil Club from Coachford”, he said.

At a launch attended by Seán McAulliffe and Jim Stack from Cancer Direct, they explained how Cancer Connect has been in operation since 2011, offering a free, flexible and confidential service that runs five days a week to Cork hospitals.

“Due to high demand, the service has widened and is now available to patients in North Cork and is offering transport from Rockchapel, through Newmarket, to Cork hospitals”, said Mr McAulliffe.

“The project was initiated due to the challenges faced by so many people who are diagnosed with cancer and require treatment on a daily basis in Cork City,” he added.

Cancer Connect is managed by Local Link Cork, which is a registered charity and a not-for-profit company.
