Liscarroll to host 27th annual sports day

LISCARROLL AC boosts one of the most progressiv­e athletic clubs in the country and they stage their 27th Annual Open Sports meeting on this Sunday with proceeding­s underway on the grounds of Liscarroll GAA at 1pm. All the old favourites return in a mammoth programme to satisfy the interests of clubs drawn from throughout Munster and beyond.

The diverse itinerary includes races for boys and girls from tiny tots under 4 to u17 years of age in addition to senior categories entailing sprints, middle distances and field events together with confined and open relays. An action packed line up of events get underway at 1pm with the sprint categories for boys and girls.

Perpetual Trophies on offer include best overall Juvenile, visiting club sponsored by Liscarroll AC, best juvenile male, best female athlete and the Bridget Madden Perpetual trophy honours a loyal club founder goes to the best host club athlete.

Looking ahead, Liscarroll AC hosts its Tom Fitzpatric­k Memorial 10km road race on Friday, August 18 commencing at 7.30pm sharp.

Road Race

DUHALLOW Athletic Club continue with their Summer series of races in Lombardsto­wn on Thursday, August 17 evening at 8.10pm.This 5km race is a fundraiser for the local Community Council, the entry fee, €10 per Adult, €5 - Juvenile (Under 17) and €20 for a family. Looking ahead, the Duhallow series returns to Banteer on Thursday, September 21 for the concluding race.
