LISCARROLL AC

CIARA Sheehy u16, won her discus event at the Celtic Games held at Santry Stadium, Dublin, at the weekend. Discus is one only of Ciara’s throwing events, shotput, javelin and hammer being the others. Well done to her.

VICKIE Cusack u18, finished fourth in her long jump event at the same games. Normally, long jump is one of Vickie’s events when she competes in combined events. Well done Vickie.

Both athletes had a very busy year competing in numerous competitions such as Athletics Ireland, Irish Schools, Community Games, International Schools, Youth Olympics and Celtic Games, making a total of 12 to 14 different competitions at different levels. To stay in top form, from January to August, is due to lots and lots of training and commitment by Ciara and Vickie. By being selected to compete, representing Ireland, they will be an inspiration to all our younger athletes. What a fantastic end to a hectic track and field season.
