Stellar line-up set to grace the Mallow stage on Sunday

- BILL BROWNE

AFTER all the hype over recent weeks the long wait is finally almost over as the stage is now set for one of most eagerly anticipated summer festivals of the year in Cork.

Organisers have been busy over the past week putting the finishing touches to the impressive set up at the Mallow GAA Complex in Carrigoon ahead of Sunday’s inaugural North Cork Country Music Festival.

With some of the biggest names in the Irish country music business set to play the day-long event it will come as no surprise to music fans that tickets for the festival have been selling like hotcakes, with thousands of people expected to flock to the venue on Sunday.

Festival co-organiser Barry John Ryan said that despite the high demand, tickets will still be available at the gate on the day.

“We have been delighted with the interest that the festival generated among country music fans of all ages. With the line-up that we have performing, it promises to be a wonderful day of top quality music and entertainment,” he said.

“Given Mallow’s position at the heart of Munster and its road and rail links to the rest of the country we are expecting people from all over Ireland to come along enjoy the music and revel in the festival atmosphere,” he added.

The gates to the venue will open at 11.30am, with Declan Nerney set to take to the stage at 1pm, followed by Louise Morrissey (2pm) and Jimmy Buckley (3pm).

Lisa McHugh will kick-off her set at 4pm with the inimitable Nathan Carter taking to the stage at 5.30pm, bringing the festival to a rousing conclusion.

Festival organisers have gone to great lengths to ensure that visitors enjoy the day with free on-site parking, plenty of unreserved seating, a large dance-floor and on site catering and bar.

Tickets, priced at $25 (with children under 16 accompanied by an adult free) are also available in advance at www. eventbrite.ie, or from the ticket hotline on 022 50707.
