Liscarroll Handball Club fundraiser
A FUNDRAISING draw to make Liscarroll Handball Club a “first class facility” for current and future generations for men and women is under way.
A planned refurbishment includes a new timber floor in the alley, new dressing rooms, public toilets, exercise and meeting room as well as a new heating system and overall re-decoration.
Tickets will continue to be sold for the fundraising draw which will take place on Friday, December 8. Liscarroll Handball is asking all clubs, county boards and handball friends to support their draw.
Liscarroll Handball club also remember with fondness the late and great Tim Healy who passed away since the fund-raiser began. Tim was truly instrumental in the development of the project and the success and completion of the refurbishment will be testament to his dedication to handball and to the club.
The tickets for the draw cost €20 and it is €50 for two tickets and a dedicated plaque on the memorial wall; it is €100 for two tickets and a corporate plaque on the memorial wall.
The prizes are €1,000, €250, €100 and €50.

Free talks on Doneraile’s rich history and built environment
St Mary’s Church of Ireland, Doneraile will be welcoming visitors on Saturday and Sunday, August 26/27 from 3-6pm in connection with Heritage Week 2017, celebrating Doneraile’s rich history and built environment.
Short talks will be given on the history of the church by Nora O’Keeffe and Ina Lillis at 4pm and 5pm on both days. All visitors will be welcome and admission is free.
St Mary’s, once known as the St Leger Church, has been a place of Christian worship since 1633, and is very closely linked to Doneraile Court and the St Leger family. It is situated across the road from the entrance to the park.
Its steeple gave its name to racing when the first cross country race over fences took place in 1752 from St John’s Church in Buttevant to the St Leger Church in Doneraile.
This is an opportunity for everyone to visit the and browse through the many interesting artefacts in the building as well as admiring its beauty, including the original church bell, cast in 1636.
