KILBRIN HONOURS JOCKEY DAVID
21 YEAR OLD’S CAREER HAS TAKEN OFF IN UK
GIFTED sports people seem to be part and parcel of the genetic code in Kilbrin and the local community honoured one of their most talented sons at a special reception in the Social Club last week.
John Corkery and Tom O’Riordan of Kilbrin Community Council congratulated 21 years old jockey David Noonan on his outstanding achievements to date and presented him with an equine themed plaque to mark the event.
David Noonan’s career has gone from strength to strength since he joined the renowned David Pipe Pond House Stables in the UK in 2013, having previously worked part time during the summer months at the stables.
David rode a winner at Kempton in his debut race in England, and the same year became a champion point to point rider with 30 wins to his credit.
Towards the end of 2015 he turned professional and in early December rode his first winner as a professional in Cheltenham.
To date David has ridden winners at the majority of tracks across the UK and he competed on the Grand National course in the Beechers Chase at the Aintree Festival this year.
However, the icing on the cake was riding a winner in the opening race on Grand National Day where he finished in the first 10 in the big race, during his first ride in the event.
Everyone who attended the reception were vocal in their praise of the young jockey and wished David the very best of luck in his career going forward.
