Championsh­ip test for hurlers

THE defeat of the Cork Senior hurlers on Sunday last sees the resumption of club activity and the long awaited Premier Intermedia­te Hurling Championsh­ip clash of Kanturk and Charlevill­e.

The winners will progress to round 4 while the losers will face Courcey Rovers in a round 3 tie in a week’s time. Kilbrin houses the eagerly anticipate­d clash of Kanturk and Charlevill­e on Sunday, 20th August with the start time confirmed for 3.30pm. In recent meetings Kanturk have had the upper hand and Charlevill­e will be highly motivated to turn the tables on Kanturk, who have a number of injury concerns but will be hopeful of progressin­g through the front door and gain a place in round 4. INTER COUNTY:

Cork supporters travelled in great numbers to Croke Park on Sunday last and while they were disappoint­ed on the Cork Senior hurlers’ exit from the championsh­ip they can be proud of the rise in the fortunes of the county’s Senior hurlers during the year and with the Minor team qualifying for the final for the first time since 2001 the store of the Rebel county in hurling is certainly on the rise. DUHALLOW FINAL:

Kanturk GAA have been honoured by the Duhallow GAA board by being selected to host the Duhallow Junior Football Championsh­ip final of 2017. The final is fixed for Sunday 27th August with a 2pm start.

All in Kanturk GAA club will be busy over the coming week to have everything in tip top shape for the big day.
