Kildorrery in heavy defeat

VALLEY Rovers had a big win over Kildorrery in Brinny on Thursday evening.

From the start the winners gained control in the half back line and midfield sectors ensuring their attack were in regular supply and took some good scores. Jack Walsh at centre forward was in devastatin­g form with Eoin O’Reilly and Sean O’Regan also very impressive accounting for 2-16 between the three.

Walsh opened with an early point with O’Regan and O’Reilly making it 0-3 after just four minutes. John Cottrell and Sean O’Regan with a point each made it 0-5 after 12 minutes. Further points by Eoin O’Reilly (2) and Jack Walsh had them 0-8 ahead by the 18th minute.

Good play by Jack Walsh led to a goal by Garry Farrell. Further points by Eoin O’Reilly, Sean O’Regan and Aaron Lyons had them 1-11 to 0-0 ahead. Kildorrery opened their account with a long range point by P J Keating.

Jack Walsh followed with two goals for Valley Rovers. Peter O’Brien pointed from a free and from play for Kildorrery. Eoin O’Reilly and P J Keating swapped a point. By half time the South East side were well ahead 3-13 to 0-7.

Kildorrery moved Jerry McCarthy and Michael Walsh to midfield for the second half. Rovers had the opening four points that saw them go 3-17 to 0-7 ahead. Kildorrery never gave up their attack lacked possession and depended mainly on Peter O’Brien who added some points from play and frees.

Valley Rovers had two late points by Eoin O’Reilly and Dan Sweetman with Dylan Kent completing the scoring for Kildorrery.
