Dromtariffe ready to take on Kevins
A GAME of rich potential is promised on the clash of Dromtariffe and St Kevins in the County U21C Football Championship Final at Pairc Uí Rinn on Friday evening.
The Duhallow and Avondhu clash in a county decider promises something special. From domestic level, a fancied Dromtariffe collected the Duhallow prize from the grasp of Croke Rovers.
When the sides clashed in the opening round, Dromtariffe had chalked up a whopping 21 point victory yet when the sides met again in the decider, Dromtariffe were put to the pin of their collar to lead just once in the contest, all importantly at the full time whistle thanks to a goal from county minor hurler Conor O’Callaghan.
Just one game in the county series, Dromtariffe endured little trouble from Clonakilty second side. Key to the Dromtariffe game are Seán Howard, Jack Murphy, Michael Healy, Conor Cremin and Evan Murphy.
St Kevins comprising Ballyclough and Miford seek to maintain a winning sequence in search of county silverware. North Cork honours saw St. Kevins better Killara Óg and a man of the match performance from Damien Buckley helped secure a deserved win over Killavullen in the decider.
Into the county, St Kevins recorded a nine point triumph over Iveleary before landing a dramatic win over Carrig na bhFear in a semi final.
Trailing by seven points with five minutes remaining, St Kevins threw down the gauntly in a scoring blitz that yielded 2-2 without reply with Adam Finnegan, Buckley and William Fitzgerald key figures to a marvellous recovery.
It makes for a fascinating encounter and when the dust has settled on the proceedings, Dromtariffe might be ahead by a point or two.
