This week we commence by welcoming Dr Joyce Leader, daughter of Dr Len and Dr Mary, to the family practice in Boherbue. She commenced her new appointment on August 14.
OUTING
The active retirement group’s next outing is on Monday August 21 to Lismore, Waterford, stopping at places of interest along the way. The bus leaves the Church Car Park at 9am.

MACRA
Sliabh Luachra Macra are holding a new members night on Friday August 25 in the Pearse Memorial Hall commencing at 9.30pm.
Macra is a vibrant rural youth organisation for people aged between 17 to 35 with a variety of activities available for members including social, agriculture, public speaking, performing arts, sports and travel. Boherbue has seen a lot of holiday makers over the summer months, including none other than Connie Breen, formerly of the East End who was home from Panama. He proudly stated that he is a weekly reader of the Boherbue notes and the Corkman newspaper.

Daire O’Connor (Arklow) son of Pat O’Connor has been selected on the Irish University International team for the world games which will be held in Taiwan in a few weeks’ time. Daire currently plays with UCD in the SSE Airtricity League First Division.

SEMI-FINAL
Boherbue Junior A Footballers are back in the Duhallow final by way of a 3-9 to 1-8 victory over Dromtariffe at the well-prepared Cullen venue on Saturday evening last.
Reaching this year’s decider has the added bonus of both finals going forward to the County Championship. See sports pages for full match report.
HANDBALL
Congrats to Shane Flynn who reached the All-Ireland 60x30 Junior B final at Cavan on Sunday last and plays the final in two weeks. Best of luck. jackpot: €2,000.
DATES TO NOTE
The formal blessing of the newly erected gymnasium, Meeting room and hurling wall alley will be preformed by Fr Denis Stritch on Sunday, September 10, at the GAA grounds. This is an open invitation to all families in the parish along with all juveniles and their families from the St Peter’s and St Mark’s clubs. Refreshments will be provided along with fun games and bouncing castles for the children. More details to follow.
