Killavullen 0-15 Blarney 0-9

THIS win for Killavullen in the Co JBHL over Blarney at Blarney on Wednesday evening puts the Avondhu side on top of the table with 10 points from their five games played. It was very much a game of ‘two halves’.

Killavullen dominated exchanges throughout the first half with nine unanswered points by the 25th minute by Ian O’Gorman (5) Alex Notter (2) Liam Cronin and Patrick Angland.

In the 26th minute Blarney had their opening score a pointed free by Colm Sheehan. Shane O’Keeffe followed with a point for the home side. In the closing minutes Liam Cronin put Seamus Fox through for a Killavullen point. Colm Sheehan had his second Blarney point with Charlie Lillis putting Alex Notter in for an injury time point that had Killavullen well ahead at the break 0-11 to 0-3.

On the resumption Ian O’Gorman added two early points for Killavullen one from a free. Blarney made a few substitutions and positional changes, they came very strong into the game.

Their dominance in vital sectors was reflected in they scoring six points on the trot by Colm Sheehan (four frees) Shane O’Keeffe and Keith Bradford to be within four points by the 52nd minute.

Killavullen introduced their former Clare senior All Ireland medal winner Barry Murphy and his two late points sealed victory. Killavullen have still to play Araglin and Laochra Óg, but their position on top of the table must assure them a place in knock-out stages.
