A hundred-thousand reasons to visit Mid Kerry Vintage Rally
ROUND about now in Castlemaine you’re likely to hear the odd cough and splutter of vintage machinery as the dust sheets are removed and a tear or two of oil is added to help revive these past masters of agriculture. When all’s right and proper, they’ll make their way to Brackhill in Castlemaine for the annual Mid Kerry Vintage Rally which takes place on Sunday, August 27 from 10am to 6pm. Entry for adults is €5 and there’s no entry charge for children.
This is the sixth year of the Rally which has become a major source of fundraising for Kerry cancer support services helping to raise €90,000 since it first started - and this year’s target is €100,000! It’s estimated that 16,000 people from Kerry and beyond have passed through the gates of the Mid Kerry Vintage Rally since it started and all indications are this figure is set to rise in the coming years.

“The success of the Rally is due to the fact there is something for everyone. Even if you don’t have an interest in vintage machinery, there’s always something to entertain you. Having visited vintage shows around Munster since the spring, it’s great to see these people now visiting our Rally. Once again I’d like to thank the volunteers and local businesses for helping and we hope the people will come along on the day and support what is a worthy cause while also enjoying a great family day out,” said Denis Tangney.
