Kanturk to play City at Gurteenard

KANTURK AFC are delighted to announce that Cork City FC U19 will play the local Premier A team on Saturday 9th of September kick off 2pm in Gurteenard for the O’Donovan Cup.

This game is in aid of The Friends of Marymount Hospice.

Kanturk Soccer Club would like to take this opportunit­y to thank everyone who supported their church gate collection and also Timmie and everyone at OC’s Bar for the pub quiz; all money raised goes towards the running cost of the club.

Danny Hourigan of The Park Bar Kanturk has presented the senior team with a set of jerseys for the coming season; thank you, Danny.

Kanturk are looking forward to the season ahead. The following teams have been entered in the Cork Schoolboys League: Under 11 (non-competitiv­e), Under 12 Division 4, Under 14 Division 4, Under 16 Division 2. This is possible only with the help of our volunteer coaches, which are much appreciate­d. Anyone interested in coaching please contact Eileen on 087 7372524.

The Under 10, Under 9, Under 8 academy starts this weekend. Registrati­on is closed.

The Senior Team have had a cracking start to the new season drawing with Buttevant A in the first game. The second game was played on Saturday V Rylane Celtic where the Juniors came away with an impressive win in Rylane. Dispite missing a few players the performanc­e was the most pleasing aspect of the game.

Liam Geaney was on fire on teh day, scoring four goals while Mark O’Dea got the other. Best on the day were Liam Geaney, Mark O’Dea and Rafal Komonski.

Kanturk AFC Lotto tickets are on sale every Saturday outside Kanturk Credit Union from 9am to 1pm.

Kanturk Under 12’s played Ringmahon Rangers in Gurteenard on Monday 28th August; final score: 1-1 - goal scorer for Kanturk was Szymon Gejzak, from the spot. Best for Kanturk: Eoin O’Riordan, Adam Lynch and Oisin Bourke. Great effort by all players, very good performanc­e put Ringmahon Ranger under pressure. A good start to the League.

Kanturk Under 14 played Mayfield away on Monday 28th; final score: Mayfield 6 Kanturk 3. Kanturk travelled to Mayfield with 12 players. 2 players injured; good effort under difficult circumstan­ces. Goal Scorers for Kanturk: Kane Desmond, Finn McKee and Calum Carroll. Best for Kanturk: Donal Murphy, Calum Carroll and Conor Massey.
