Boherbue Active Retirement Group held another very enjoyable day out on Monday week last, August 21. They travelled to Waterford, stopping at Lismore and on to the Vee and Dungarvan.

Forty travelled and all thoroughly enjoyed their trip. On the return journey they dined at the Wild Goose Restaurant in Mallow.

Their next outing is to the Dog Track in Tralee on Saturday, October 14 (more details on that at a later date). However, on Tuesday, September 5, they introduce Armchair Yoga in the Pearse Memorial Hall commencing at 2 p.m. with everyone welcome.

STRICTLY DANCING

Boherbue GAA Club will launch their Strictly Come Dancing show at Billy Murphy’s Bar on Saturay week, September 9. The show itself will take place at the Charlevill­e Park Hotel on Saturay, October 14. More details later.

SET DANCING

Classes for beginners start on Wednesday next, September 6, in the hall and on Thursday the seventh for the more difficult sets. Informatio­n from 087 6800819.

RETREAT

MUSIC ROOM

The Music Room reopens in the Pearse Memorial Hall on Thursday next, September 7, at 8 p.m. The presenter will be Jerry O’Callaghan, Freemount. Everyone welcome. season and the evenings drawing in and getting darker earlier all must exercise due care and attention as students will be travelling to and from their places of education as dusk is descending. Congratula­tins to all who have achieved their successes and good luck to you all for the future.

BINGO

The weekly bingo session continues to be held locally on Monday night with substantia­l monetary prizes. The jackpot has passed the €3,000 mark and will continue to rise till it is won by some lucky punter. There is also an in-house – lottery and an extra sheet game also to be won. Games kick off at 8.30 p.m.

LOTTERY

Buttevant soccer club promotes a weekly local lottery draw with a substantia­l jackpot to be won. The winning of the monetary jackpot rests on the choice of four lucky numbers to match the four numbers drawn on draw night. The jackpot now stands at €15,200 and will continue to rise weekly till won. Lottery entry cards can be purchased locally at appointed retail outlets.

MICK O’REGAN BIKE RUN

The recently held sponsored bikers charity run held throughout the Cork recion with its’ headquarte­rs in Buttevant raised a substantia­lly huge amount of financial dividendsw­hich will be distribute­d to appointed charity organisati­ons.

The main benefactor will be the Pieta House group who do untold work in the area of suicide and depression. The relevant cheques will be presented on this Friday evening September 1, at Kit Roche’s Bar, Buttevant. All concerned are to be commended for their work dedication and persverenc­e.

Traditiona­l step dancing commences at Bruach na Carraige in Rockchapel on Friday, September 8, at 6 p.m. The teachers are Sarah and Maurice O’Keeffe with a wide range of dances.

DRAMA CLASSES

Mike Guerin’s Drama classes will restart in Rockchapel on Wednesday, September 6, at 6 p.m. There are still some spaces available for this class. It will run for eight weeks at a cost of €80 per child. The classes strive to foster confidence, teamwork and creativity in a non-competitiv­e environmen­t.
