Ballyhooly 3-6 Dromina 1-11

BALLYHOOLY edged out Dromina with a strong finish at Newtownshandrum on Saturday, after Dromina had led for long periods in this closely contested game.

John Delee had a goal from a sideline cut that put Dromina 1-2 to 0-1 clear before a Jake Mehigan goal brought Ballyhooly back into contention, and a second goal lby Fergal O’Connell saw Ballyhooly lead 2-3 to 1-5 at half time.

Dromina edged in front briefly early in the second half, but scores from O’Connell and Pat Hayes (‘65’) hauled Ballyhooly back in front as the lead changed hands several times.

Jason Finn seemed to have secured victory for Dromina when he a pointed late on but in the final minutes Ballyhooly dominated and finished strong with a Sean Linehan point and a Darragh O’Reilly goal to put them 3-5 to 1-10 ahead.

Dromina forced parity with a Michael Finn point but deep in injury-time James Roche engineered the winner for Ballyhooly. Harbour Rovers 1-21 Shanballymore 2-13

THIS semi-final at Castletownroche was a repeat of last year’s final where the Rovers were winners. On this occasion the Glanworth side, despite being short some key players, were worthy winners by five points.

An early Brian Sheedy goal helped Shanballymore to a 1-4 to 0-4 lead after 15 minutes, but a handful of points and a 24th minute goal from Stephen Condon had the Glanworth side back in front, and they led by a point, 1-9 to 1-8, at the interval.

On the restart Condon pointed for Rovers but Shanbally’ forced level at 1-10 each when Jamie Sheedy and Miceal Burke had points.

Exchanges continued to be close with the sides level 2-13 to 1-16 but over the last 10 minutes Harbour dominated, scoring five unanswered points as they ran out deserving winners in the end.
