Hurling takes centre stage in Muskerry after Kilmurry take premier football honours with final win over Iveleary
THIS week hurling will be centre stage with the junior hurling championship semi-final replay at Ovens likely to produce another keen contest. In the first encounter title holders Ballinora made a last ditch really to get on level terms with Cloughduv so it will be interesting to see which side will have learned the most as they set out to qualify for another divisional final.
On Tuesday next at Coachford Cloughduv will again be involved this time in the under 21 hurling championships in what is expected to be a very competitive encounter with Eire Óg. Some of the players lining out in this game will be tired from the involvement in other divisional competitions in recent days but they are two clubs who bring out the best in each other and Tuesday next should be no exception.
Last week in Muskerry we saw the conclusion of the division’s premier football championship with Kilmurry surmounting the Iveleary challenge and retaining their crown. Both teams will now advance to contest the junior football county championship and they should give good accounts of themselves.
Amidst the excitement of last week conclusion of Muskerry premier football championship there was an sad news for one Muskerry GAA family. We were all shocked and saddened on Saturday last when we heard of the sudden death of Caroline Leahy daughter of popular Muskerry board chairman Pat Malone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved at this sad time as we offer them our deepest sympathy.
