AUTUMN FAYRE

After a horrendous day of rain on Saturday, we were all praying for a fine day for the Dromahane Community Park autumn Fayre and our prayers were answered. Lots of beautiful, organic fruit and veg and loads of cakes, jams and pickles all generously donated for sale be neighbours and friends.

Special thanks to our main men Tadgh Finnegan, Pa O’Donoghue, Bill Sexton and Conor Curran, who made sure we had plenty of everything for sale. The day was a great success with €1,500 raised. We are hoping for some good news in the coming weeks from Sports Capital Funding and hopefully will have our park up and running next year. Your continued support and patience is greatly appreciated.

KILSHANNIG GAA

Under-21 Hurling Championship – Kilshannig 3-23 Ballyhea 2-16: Kilshannig were crowned North Cork under-21 B Hurling Champions following a thrilling final victory over Ballyhea at Churchtown on Friday evening last.

It was a superb game with some excellent scores at either end throughout. Kilshannig got off to an excellent start with goals from Diarmuid O’Sullivan and Conor McMahon putting their side two goals to the good. Ballyhea though were a goal threat themselves and struck the net twice before half time to tie the game, 2-10 each.

The sides traded scores after the break with some excellent points to leave the game in the balance. It was Kilshannig though who began to take control of the game with Tony Brennan and man of the match Kevin O’Flynn striking a number of vital points to move six ahead entering the final quarter, 2-20 to 2-14.

Shortly after, Kilshannig extended their lead with a crucial third goal, Diarmuid O’Sullivan supplying O’Flynn, who finished excellently to the net. Kilshannig never looked like losing their lead from then till the end as they ran comfortable winners to claim the title and advance to the knockout states of the county.
