Banteer Community Childcare celebrate ten years in business and opening of two new classrooms this Saturday, September 9th 3-6pm

-

EVERYBODY at Banteer Community Childcare has plenty to celebrate at the moment - two new classrooms will be opened by Minister Michael Creed on Saturday, September 9th when the Centre also marks ten amazing years in business.

To accommodate the ever growing number of children on it’s books, the two new spacious Classrooms have been constructed in a record time of 3 weeks and various other improvements to the tune of €170,000 (A EYC grant of €70,000 was secured) also implemented at the Centre.

Major Success Story

Since it first opened it’s doors ten years ago, the Creche in Banteer has been a major success and now in 2017 can boast four full preschool rooms which are in operation from the beginning of the new term under the ECCE scheme. In total there is now some 240 children on its roll books.

Banteer Community Childcare is much more than simply a crèche – in many ways, it a community centre, in the literal meaning of the word.

The state of the art facility opened its doors in 2007, after several years of work by the local community group. The facility received €1.3 million in grant aid to bring the dream to reality, and it has had to expand several times in the intervening years, such has been the demand for the excellent services provided.

The facility caters for babies, wobblers and toddlers, as well as pre-school age children. It also has breakfast and afterschool clubs. It is open from 7am until 6:30pm for 49 weeks of the year.

It has proven to be an invaluable facility at the heart of Duhallow, especially where parents have to make an early start at work and travel many miles from their homes.

The facility’s competitive rates have not increased since 2013 and the Centre offers schemes such as CETS/CCS for those returning to work or education as well as the ECCE – free pre-school years and from this September the new universal subsidy.

Along the way they have adapted facilities to accommodate the ever-changing needs of the community.
