SINGER and composer Eimear Quinn will join forces with Dublin Brass for a very special candle-lit concert amid the atmospheric surroundings of Cork’s St Fin Barre’s Cathedral on Saturday, September 30.

Entitled ‘Breath Upon Flame’ the concert will feature new arrangements of Irish songs for voice and classical brass including ‘My Lagan Love’, ‘ The Voice’, ‘Mise Eire’ and music from the Oscar-nominated movie ‘Room’.

Since winning the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest with ‘ The Voice’, Quinn has toured and performed extensively across the world, including singing for royalty and Irish and US Presidents.

“It’s pleasure for me to be singing with the Dublin Brass for this concert,” said Quinn.

“Performing these beautiful folk songs in the unique context of traditional instruments and classical brass in the glorious setting of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral I will be in my element.”

Will Palmer the founder and artistic director of Dublin Brass, which features members of both the RTÉ Symphony and Concert Orchestras, said they were delighted to be performing with Quinn.

“This concert is going to be a real treat. You’re invited to sit back, relax and enjoy a candlelit evening of specially re-imagined traditional Irish music,” he said.

Siubhan Ni Ghriofa, who arranged the music for they concert along with Quinn, John Buckley and Gavin Murphy, said the venue could not be more suitable.

“The stunning surroundings of St Fin Barre’s will be the perfect backdrop, with its acoustics setting off the broad range of brass, stringed, percussion instruments and Eimear’s ethereal voice,” she said.
