Bus-y Culture Night in the City

- BILL BROWNE

A PACKED schedule of events has been put together for Culture Night in Cork City.

With more than 100 events set to take place across the city on the night, the biggest problem people will face is trying to fit as much in as they can.

With this in mind Bus Éireann will be running a special bus service that will allow people the opportunity to experience as many events as possible throughout the evening.

From 7pm-10pm a fleet of Bus Éireann ‘Culture Buses’ will leave every 20-minutes from outside City Hall taking in three dedicated routes spanning locations across the city.

Along the way visitors will be able to catch musical performances at venues including St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the Ó Riada Hall at UCC and the City Hall.

While the list of events taking place across the city is long and varied, there are a number of stand-out highlights.

Once again the Masonic Hall on Tuckey Street, the home of Freemasonry in Cork since 1844, will open its doors to the public from 5.30pm-8.30pm.

The English Market on the Grand Parade will stay open until 9pm, with people invited to enjoy traditional music and sample some local tasty dishes.

The Military Museum at Collins Barracks will open its doors to the public from 5pm-9pm, the Cork Public Museum will extend its opening hours to 7pm and the Tyndall Institute will invite visitors to explore the Solar System in its Star Dome planetarium.
