LEO to host ‘Women in Busi­ness’ pro­gramme

FE­MALE en­trepreneurs from across the North Cork re­gion have been urged to help in­crease their chances of suc­cess through a ded­i­cated pro­gramme be­ing hosted by the Lo­cal En­ter­prise Of­fice (LEO).

The Of­fice is seek­ing ex­pres­sions of in­ter­est in their aptly named ‘Women In Busi­ness’ course, with an in­for­ma­tion morn­ing out­lin­ing the ini­tia­tive set to take place at the Charleville Park Ho­tel from 10am on Fri­day morn­ing.

Speak­ing to The Cork­man LEO busi­ness ad­viser Joan Kelle­her said the pro­gramme was just one el­e­ment of their on­go­ing com­mit­ment to pro­mot­ing and en­cour­ag­ing women to take a lead­ing role in busi­ness across all sec­tors.

“The course is aimed specif­i­cally at fe­male own­ers/part­ners of small busi­nesses with be­tween 1-10 em­ploy­ees. Ap­pli­cants must be ac­tively en­gaged in the man­age­ment of their busi­ness and will have been trad­ing for a min­i­mum of 12-months and have com­pleted the stan­dard start your own busi­ness course.”

She said that over the course of eight train­ing ses­sions, par­tic­i­pants will work with qual­i­fied train­ers who will as­sist them in grow­ing, de­vel­op­ing and di­ver­si­fy­ing their busi­nesses.

“The pro­gramme will be ideal for peo­ple wish­ing to broaden their knowl­edge in a va­ri­ety of key ar­eas in­clud­ing strat­egy, fi­nance, rais­ing money, mar­ket­ing and sales, PR, so­cial me­dia and pitch­ing a busi­ness plan,” said Ms Kelle­her.

“It will also be of ben­e­fit to those cur­rently fac­ing chal­lenges within their busi­ness or those who are in the process of changing some of their prod­ucts and ser­vices and need guid­ance, di­rec­tion and sup­port,” she added.

There will be a max­i­mum of 15 women par­tic­i­pat­ing in the pro­gramme, which Ms Kelle­her said would pro­vide “ex­cel­lent net­work­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties within mem­bers the group and with their con­tacts.”

The sub­sided fee for the course will be €150 per per­son, which will in­clude all as­so­ci­ated hand­outs and re­fresh­ments, and it is open to those op­er­at­ing within the North Cork catch­ment area in­clud­ing Duhal­low, Charleville, Mal­low Fer­moy and Mitchel­stown.
