Dromtariffe and Kilbrin may square up in league final

NEITHER Kilbrin nor Dromtariffe will need much incentive ahead of their Twohigs Super Valu Duhallow Junior A Hurling League Final Replay that’s provisionally fixed for Freemount on Sunday.

The fixture depends on the outcome from last night’s Mid Cork JAHC Final, a Kilmichael win over a fancied Cloughdubh would see them play Kilbrin in the County JAHC otherwise, the Duhallow JAHL Final goes ahead. Since their stalemate encounter early last month, both Kilbrin and Dromtariffe incurred a loss to new crowned JAHC winners Banteer and this affords the opportunity to sample domestic silverware.

Returning to the drawn tussle, Dromtariffe produced a rousing comeback, highlighted on Seán Howard salvaged a draw thanks to a dramatic late goal. It was no more that Dromtariffe deserved, if only for the refusal of a side chasing a first time title when all seemed lost on trailing by eight points midway through the second half.

On doing so, Dromtariffe chipped away at the deficit culminating on Howard holding his nerve to blast home a 20mtr free.

Fortunes fluctuated over the hour and in the circumstances, a draw emerged just about the correct outcome. From a competitive encounter laced by many spells of constructive hurling, an experienced Kilbrin were pitted against a Dromtariffe combination seeking a first time title.
