Shanballym­ore ease past Araglin to book place in JBFC final

SHANBALLYM­ORE had 12 points to spare over Araglin in the Walsh’s Pharmacy JBFC(1) semi-final at Kildorrery on Thursday.

From the start the winners gained the upperhand and the outcome was never in doubt. Early points by Vincent Burke, Kenneth Barry and Alan Sheedy had Shanbally 0-5 to 0-0 clear after 13 minutes. Good play for Araglin by Cain O’Mahony led to an opening point by Mitch Barry. O’Mahony lost out to a red card in the 17th minute.

Miceal Burke added a Shanballym­ore point. Araglin had a pointed free by Tom Kenneally. Dave Browne was denied by the crossbar but the same player with a late point cut the lead at the break 0-6 to 0-3.

On the resumption, the winners dominated in vital sectors and points by Miceal Burke and Kenneth Barry (free) edged Shanbally 0-8 to 0-3 clear. In the 47th minute good play by Miceal and Vincent Burke

led to a fine point by Brian O’Reilly. Vincent Burke and Eoin McHugh followed with points as the winners moved 0-11 to 0-3 ahead. Paddy Kenneally had Araglin’s only score of the second half in the 52nd minute. Kenneth Barry followed with two points for the winners before Eoin McHugh and Vincent Burke worked well for Paul Burke who goaled in injury time. Shanballym­ore now meet Grange in the final this weekend.
