WHILE tickets for many of the headline gigs from this weekend’s Sounds From A Safe Harbour extravaganza sold out weeks ago, there are still plenty of events many of them free, taking place around the city over the coming days under its umbrella.

In fact the festival, curated by Bryce & Aaron Dessner (The National), Mary Hickson, Cillian Murphy and Enda Walsh, will be bringing music, dance, visual art and conversation to more than 60 venues across Leeside.

Limited tickets are still available for Crash Ensemble at the Everyman Palace Theatre on Friday night. Presented by Bryce Dessner and conducted by Andre Ridder, the Ensemble will be joined by Kate Manley, the Cork School of Music Capella Lyrica Choir and some very special guests.

The event will be opened by Cillian Murphy and will include an exciting new collaboration between him, Enda Walsh and the Dessner brothers. The Ensemble will also perform works by Linda Buckley, Bryce Dessner and the world première of a piece by Emily Hall with text by Enda Walsh.

Other events taking place over the course of the weekend will include Iarla O’Lionard and Steve Cooney, Fionn Regan, Peter Broderick, Amiina, Wyvern Lingo, Saint Sister and Slow Moving Clouds.

Nialler9 has also come on board to help curate an extensive Heineken Free Music Trail at venues across the city featuring acts including New Jackson, Soulé, Rosie Carey and Saint Caoilian.

The free Conversation & Word Trail, in association with Creative Ireland, will invite the public to engage in intimate conversations and listen to renowned DJ’s, writers and filmmakers from home and abroad.
