Transition Year
ALL students in Davis College complete Transition Year. This experience enables students to avail of the benefits of an extra school year. These benefits include
• Time for increased maturity
• An additional year of academic endeavor.
• Key elements of Leaving Certificate courses are covered
• Development of the ‘soft skills’ seen as vital to success in later life. These include teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, entrepreneurship and innovation. It is these skills students require when they progress to third level and onto their chosen career paths.
• Opportunity to explore career options and to
avail of Work Experience
• Experience of subject areas not traditionally associated with school life e.g. photography, Kickboxing, Geology, Mini Company etc. There is no doubt but that active participation in Transition Year has an enormously positive impact on Leaving Certificate grades.
