Ballycastle Gaels have good win in Minor B1 FC semi final

Ballycastle Gaels 4-9 Kildorrery 2-3

BALLYCASTLE Gaels had a well merited win over Kildorrery in the Rebel Og North Minor B 1 FC semi-final at Kildorrery on Tuesday night. From the start the winners dominated in the half backline and their forwards in regular supply took some good scores.

Early points by Emmet O’ Riordan and Dylan O’Connor had them 0-4 to 0-0 clear after nine minutes. In the 10th minute Oran O’Flynn goaled after a three-man attack. They followed with a long range point by Emmet O’Riordan. Kildorrery’s first score came in the 21st minute when Cathal Harrington pointed a free. Dylan O’Connor with a ‘45’ found Richard Lombard who made it 1-6 to 0-1.

Further pressure by the Ballyhooly-Castletownroche side saw Dylan O’Connor and Seamus Roche add points before Oran O’Flynn and Fraech McGrath worked well for Dylan Walsh who goaled and put the Gaels 13 points clear 2-8 to 0-1 at the break.

On the resumption Kildorrery introduced Darren Caplice and Timmy O’Sullivan who improved their challenge. Cathal Harrington pointed a free. In the 37th minute good play by Dylan O’Connor and Diarmuid Linehan led to O’Connor taking the return pass and having a fine goal 3-8 to 0-2. Anthony Crowley pointed a free for the ‘Hill’.

O’Connor replied with a pointed free. In the 44th minute Kildorrery had a goal by Mattie WalshO’Grady.

The Gaels replied again when Dylan O’Connor worked well for Dylan Walsh who goaled opening up a 15 point lead 4-9 to 1-3. Kildorrery battled to the end they had a late goal by Timmy O’Sullivan. There was no denying the Ballycastle Gaels side their win and a final meeting with Buttevant.
