Muskerry championship programme draws to a conclusion with Aghinagh’s victory

-

LAST Saturday at Cill Na Martra the Muskerry board were happy to see their 2017 championship programme reaching a conclusion.

The Junior (c) football final involving Aghinagh and Clondrohid got a result with the former capturing the title for the first time. The finalists on Saturday last were representing two clubs who always endeavor to play attractive football and Saturday last was no exception.

Both sides enjoyed periods of dominance over the hour, but Aghinagh finished the stronger side to secure a deserved victory. Diarmuid Crowley was a star for the winners scoring 1-7 and others who impressed in their victory were Adam Murphy, Seamus O Leary and Kieran Lehane. Fergal Kelleher was an outstanding performer for Clondrohid and Declan Kelleher was another who performed well.

The days ahead will see the Muskerry board endeavouring to bring all their leagues to a satisfactory conclusion and it is to their credit that they have all reaches the knock out stages.

On Sunday next the two semi finals in the junior (3) football league are down for decision. Aghinagh who are in the high spirits will face Canovee at Coach Ford at 2pm. While the second semifinal will involve Ballinora and Clondrohid and they will be in action at Kilmurry at 3pm.

On Tuesday next at Cloughduv the junior (b) hurling league semifinal should see the home side having the edge over Aghabullogue. Cloughduv were very disappointed to lose their junior (b) hurling championship final to Blarney so an end of season league victory would bring them some compensation so they will be endeavouring to secure a final place on Sunday.

In the other semi-final Ballinora will face Blarney at Ballincollig on Wednesday evening and the latter who are hoping to make it a championship league double should have the edge.
