Last Sunday the Munster Uneven Age Juvenile Cross Country Championships were held at Galbally, Co Tipperary. Following a week of heavy rain, conditions were remarkably good.

Our first athlete off was Isobel Kellegher, under 13, who is improving with each outing. She finished 47th out of 175 entries. A great result for her against the best athletes from all the six Munster counties.

Johnny Murphy was also in action, running a longer distance against athletes a year older than him. He stayed up with the leading bunch to finish in 10th place. Again this was a very good result for him at under 13.

Anna Kellegher under 17 ran a very comfortable race over 4000m showing a big improvement in fitness. She finished a good 27th, again competing against the best in Munster. Her next race will be on Sunday, Nov 26 in Abbotstown, Dublin as a member of the Cork under 18 team.

Johnny Murphy will also be in action at Abbotstown on the same day, competing in his own age group under 12.

As a result of the above results last Sunday, Johnny Murphy and Anna Kellegher have both qualified to compete on Cork teams at the All-Ireland Uneven Age Championships to be held in Waterford on Sunday, December 17. Well done to both of them.

SYMPATHY–The officers and members of Liscarroll AC extend sincere sympathy to the Whelan families, Lisgriffin, Mallow and Buttevant on the recent death of Mary Regan (nee Whelan) who died last week. To her brother Mick, nephews Pat, Mick and Finbarr we extend our sincerest sympathy. May she rest in peace.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING– annual general meetingb of the Club will take place in the Meeting Room at Liscarroll Community Centre on Thursdsay night, Nov 30 at 7.45pm, following Little Athletics traiing.

All starting times 6.30pm. Friday, Nov 17 Charleville, all ages. Monday, Nov 20: Liscarroll for athletes up to under 12. Tuesday, Nov 21: Liscarrol forfor older athletes. Thursday, Nov 23: Liscarroll, Little Athletes. Friday, Nov 24: Charleville, all ages.

FIXTURES–Sunday, Nov 19: Munster Inter Club relays and Masters at Riverstock, Co Cork. Sunday, Nov 26: Juvenile Even Age, Junior, Senior All-Ireland Cross Country at Abbotstown, Dublin. Sunday, Dec 3: Munster Intermediate and Juvenile ‘B’ Cross Country. Sunday, Dec 17: All-Irleand Juvenile Uneven Age and Novice Cross Country at WIT, Waterford.
