It’s been another busy year in Newmarket

-

IT has been another busy year in our town which holds not one but two festivals each summer.

The summer festival gets better each year with a host of great nightly events and the breathtaking fireworks display to mark the end of ten wonderful nights, with events to suit all tastes.

This festival is part of the fabric of our community we all have grown up with and it holds a million memories with decades of summer nights in Newmarket that have passed and many more to come.

In recent years Scully’s Fest has also made a huge mark with crowds getting bigger each year. This is a celebration of our music, our culture and a showcase for talent of all ages.

We congratulate both committees and wish them continued success for many more years to come.

Our local girls national school recently held a fundraiser to pay for an extension on the school building. The parents’ association pulled out all the stops with their fundraising night, ‘Who Wants To Be A Thousandaire’.

This was held in the Hi-land and attracted huge crowds who enjoyed a great night’s entertainment. Much credit is due to the committee for their hard work and dedication - it was a triumph for all involved. The work of our local voluntary groups and the excellent support of our local traders has again this year made our community stronger. This is a principle we at the Newmarket Community Development Association believe in. All working together with each other and for each other.

We invite one and all to share in our Christmas and community spirit. Come and avail of all this town has to offer this Christmas and beyond.

We wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
