Mouth-watering Christmas raffle for a good cause

-

TWOMEY’s Butchers in newmarket is once again running their mouth-watering Christmas raffle.

The now annual raffle has fast become a festive favourite in Newmarket and no wonder when you consider what’s on offer to the winner.

However, the raffle is also a fund-raiser for ACT (Aid Cancer Treatment, the Cork-based voluntary organisation that works to help people being treated for cancer in very practical ways. All funds raised for ACT go directly to the people receiving treatment for cancer in the Cork University Hospital.

For Jimmy Twomey at Twomey’s Butchers, ACT is a very worthy cause to raise funds for.

“Originally I started the Christmas raffle to raise funds for ACT as early in 2015 my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He attended C.U.H. for chemotherapy/radium treatment,” said Jimmy. “Unfortunatly, he passed away in February this year.

“Having seen my father and people locally going through treatment for cancer I decided to continue the raffle again this year.”

Jimmy says the prize this year is made up of all the most popular Christmas meats. *Fresh Irish free range turkey *Full Irish ham *Homemade spiced beef *Joint of roast beef *Large leg of lamb

*A breakfast pack *Award winning hamper of jam, kindly donated by Martin’s Jams

Lines for the raffle are €2 each and available in store until December 16, when the winner will be announced.

“I would also like to thank the people of Newmarket and surrounding areas for supporting last year’s raffle,” added Jimmy.
