Looking forward to a fabulous Christmas in Charleville
ALL involved with Charleville Chamber of Commerce, adn along with the town traders, are looking forward to the Christmas season, especially so after what has been a very eventful year, with many highlights.
In his Christmas message to the business and community in general in Charleville, the president of Charleville Chamber, P. J. McCarthy, said:
“As we face into a new year Charleville has put the vicissitudes of 2017 behind it and looks forward with confidence to a bright and positive future, through collaboration and consultative approach elements in realising the potential for Charleville town and area are beginning to fall into place.
“We have seen significant investment into Charleville in 2017, boosting employment prospects with retention of existing jobs, new jobs created due to expansion and new start up.
“The retail sector will be boosted by the installation of the new CCTV surveillance cameras early in the New Year. This will give added security to the general public, community and business.
“The retail experience is being greatly enhanced by the advent of Mallow Credit Union to replace the former branch. This, coupled with the opening up of new shops along the Main Street, is very positive, while the modernisation of the longer established businesses is to be greatly welcomed.
“The new owners of the Town Centre have solid plans to expand the retail offering in this area, and in the coming months we will begin to see changes in this area with new and exciting brands and enterprises coming on stream.
“The advent of another national name to the town (should they get planning permission from Cork County Council) in Right Price Bargain Store is another welcome boost and is a huge a vote of confidence in Charleville as a vibrant retail centre.
“The challenges which the proposed new M20 Motorway will bring is presently exercising the members of the Chamber. Even though it may be some years off yet, now is the time to be thinking of the benefits that could accrue from the new motorway, start putting plans in place for essential street landscaping and necessary infrastructure, to enhance existing environment, improve safety of pedestrians, improvement to overall retail and entertainment experience to the advantage of Charleville into the future,” said Mr. McCarthy.
On the industrial front, the Chamber has welcomed Ward & Burke Construction to Charleville, retaining existing employment. Kerry Ingredients have also completed
