A great time for meeting and greeting in Doneraile

-

THERE’S no doubt but it’s a very busy time of year and in Doneraile that also means a great time for meeting and greeting at seasonal events, many of them for good causes.

This Saturday and Sunday sees the Christmas Charity Push Market in Doneraile Community Centre. This will include a host of festive treats as well as the opportunity to grab a gift of local goods.

During the market there will be a raffle for some very tempting items, including a crib (currently on view at the Doneraile Court Tearooms). Other items to be won include a hamper, cake, €20 voucher courtesy of Doneraile Court Tearooms, a beauty hamper and a sweet wreath.

The draw will be on Sunday at 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, hearts and yellow ribbons for the Remembrance Tree, located outside the community centre, will be available before and after masses in Doneraile. This is a great way to remember loved ones at this time of year.

This year, the proceeds from the raffle and sale of ribbons and hearts will go to the Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team.

Meanwhile, this evening (Thursday, December 14) the famed Cahirmee Singers will perform at a fundraising concert at Doneraiel Golf Club at 8.30pm. This promises to be a very special festive evening and tickets cost €10 and are available from 085-1768757.

Further afield, a guided tour of Doneraile Park takes place on New Year’s Eve at 2.30pm. This event is free and everyone is welcome.

Meanwhile, the open air crib in Doneraile is becoming a focal point in the lead-up to Christmas, drawing much admiration, especially when it’s lit up at night.

Finally, there’s a book launch with a big Doneraile connection at the Corbett Court in Ballyhea on December 20 when ‘Correspondence From The Papers of Canon Sheehan, 1888-1913’ by Ballyhea parish priest Fr James O’Brien is released.
