Riding the storm with The Doors Alive at AMP
TRIBUTE act The Doors Alive will replicate the sound of Jim Morrison and Co. when they play they play AMP ‘Upstairs’ at the Hanover on Saturday night
Described as “the most exciting, authentic and charismatic” Doors tribute act in the world”, the band’s sound is uncannily similar to that of their icons who took the music world by storm during the 1960s and ’70s.
Lead singer Willie Scott captures the enigmatic look, attitude and rich baritone voice of the late, great Jim Morrison with ease while his compadres showcase the musical chops of original Doors members Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore with finesse and skill.
To achieve that authentic Sixties sound, the band use the very same instruments that members of the Doors originally used. These include a vintage Fender Rhodes Bass keyboard, a vintage Gibson keyboard and a vintage Gibson SG guitar.
What sets The Doors Alive apart is their sheer dedication and determination to keep the Doors’ music not only alive, but completely authentic ensuring it is delivered with the respect it deserves.
They have left awestruck audiences all over the world and repeatedly sold out some of the most respected venues in the business.
They have also impressed music insiders, with BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Low e describing the as “truly amazing” and Clint Boom of XFM saying they were “the best tribute band I have ever seen.”
They have even drawn high praise from those who worked alongside The Doors with none other than Dug Cameron, the band’s road manager in the late sixties, saying they were “the best Doors band that I’ve seen.... Sometimes they sound more like the Doors than The Doors.”
So if you love the Doors madly and want to light your Saturday night on fire take a moonlight drive to AMP for the night and take it as it comes.
