MARY LYDON (nèe Kelly) R.I.P.

THE death took place at Skibbereen Retirement Village of Mary Lydon (nèe Kelly) on Saturday, December 30.

From Cork Road, Mallow, Mary is predecease­d by her husband, Martin, and survived by her daughter, Catherine, relatives and friends. Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Resurrecti­on on Monday, January 1 at 12noon followed by burial in St. Gobnait’s Cemetery.

RICHARD GRIFFIN R.I.P.

THE death took place at Nazareth House on Saturday, December 30 of Richard Griffin.

From Rock Road in Mallow, Richard was deeply involved in Mallow St Vincent de Paul Society for many years. He is survived by his wife, Brigid, (nèe Lucey) sons, Trevore, Nigel and Ross, daughter Maria (Costello) relations and friends.

Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Mary’s Church at 2pm on Monday January 1 followed by burial in St. Gobnait’s Cemetery.

TOM COUNIHAN R.I.P.

THE death took place at the Mercy University Hospital in Cork of Tom Counihan of Glenanaar and formerly of Cullen and Templemary on Sunday, December 31.

Tom will always be remembered as a friendly, kind and understand­ing man who loved his horse racing and meeting with old friends. A staunch member of the Fianna Fàil party for many years, Tom worked in England and in Cork before being employed up to his retirement at Dairygold in Mallow.

During his funeral Mass his nephew, Conor Counihan, the former Cork footballer and Cork football manager, paid a beautiful tribute to his uncle from the time of his birth in Cullen to his passing just days ago.

Tom is predecease­d by his brothers Ted and Con and survived by his wife, Mary (nèe O’Callaghan), sisters Joan (Power) and Kathleen ( Doherty), relatives and a large circle of friends.

Requiem Mass took place in St. Mary’s Church at 11.30am on Tuesday, January 2 followed by burial in Lisgriffin Churchyard Cemetery.

To Mary and the Counihan family we extend our deepest sympathy.
