Services offered at the Foundation
A YEAR after the formation in 1968 of the Charleville & District Association for the Handicapped (now The St Joseph’s Foundation), a day school service was established in Charleville in response to local need.
Over the years a pre-school was developed and after it became apparent many adults with learning disabilities were not availing of a service the St Joseph’s Sheltered Workshop was established in July 1973.
Under its motto “To Care” the Foundation continues to grow and to respond to the needs of children and adults with learning disabilities.
It’s children services include:
Early Intervention, pre-school, school, home support and respite care facilities.
It’s Adult Services include:
* Sheltered Occupational Work.
* T.E.S.S. Vocational Education. (Training, Employment & Social Skills Programme). * Day centres for adults (with severe/profound learning disabilities).
* The Liskennett day service that provides personal support Services for adults with Autism,.
* Residences for adults.
* Retirement and respite care facilities are also available for adults as well as home support and supported employment. The multidisciplinary team comprises of an Honorary Medical Officer, Community Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists and Music Therapist.
