Services offered at the Foundation

A YEAR after the formation in 1968 of the Charlevill­e & District Associatio­n for the Handicappe­d (now The St Joseph’s Foundation), a day school service was establishe­d in Charlevill­e in response to local need.

Over the years a pre-school was developed and after it became apparent many adults with learning disabiliti­es were not availing of a service the St Joseph’s Sheltered Workshop was establishe­d in July 1973.

Under its motto “To Care” the Foundation continues to grow and to respond to the needs of children and adults with learning disabiliti­es.

It’s children services include:

Early Interventi­on, pre-school, school, home support and respite care facilities.

It’s Adult Services include:

* Sheltered Occupation­al Work.

* T.E.S.S. Vocational Education. (Training, Employment & Social Skills Programme). * Day centres for adults (with severe/profound learning disabiliti­es).

* The Liskennett day service that provides personal support Services for adults with Autism,.

* Residences for adults.

* Retirement and respite care facilities are also available for adults as well as home support and supported employment. The multidisci­plinary team comprises of an Honorary Medical Officer, Community Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologi­sts, Occupation­al Therapists, Physiother­apists, Speech & Language Therapists and Music Therapist.
