UNDER 21S: Glenville Tournament:

MacrooM v Ilen rovers. Macroom played Ilen in the opening game of the Glenville U-21 Football Tournament on Friday in the C.G. under lights.

Despite the heavy ground, both teams served up an entertaini­ng game with some fine scores taken. Macroom ran out winners by 3-14 to 2-09. Team; Kevin Condon, Cian Twomey, Kieran Condon, Kuba Byrdziak, Niko Wyskinski, Kevin O’Dwyer, Cillian Donovan, Caleb Dinneen, Seán McMahon, Cathal O’Riordan, Don Creedon (0-2), Daniel O’Riordan, Olan O’Leary (2-4), Robert Healy (0-1), Ethan O Gorman (0-2). MacrooM Béal Átha ‘ GhaorthaId­h: The U21s v n were then in action in the second round of the Glenville Tournament on Sunday, January 21 and played Béal Atha in the Tom Creedon Park. The pitch was quite soft but Macroom put in a good first half performanc­e and led at the interval by 1-08 to 0-4.

The second-half proved to be a lively affair with Béal Átha coming back into the game and scoring 2-04 to Macroom’s four points. Macroom held out to win the game by one point on a score line 1-12 to 2-08. Macroom have four points from two games in this competitio­n.

They next play Kilmacabea this Friday in Macroom at 8pm.
