Catchy titles aplenty for Awbeg Macra
TWO of the four titles up for grabs at the ‘2018 Avondhu Titles Night’ went to members of Awbeg Macra na Feirme last Friday.
Shannon Murphy was crowned the Avondhu Blue Jeans Country Queen after a moving rendition of ‘On Raglan Road’. She will represent the region at the Blue Jeans Festival in Athboy, Co. Meath in June.
Breda Forrest was named Miss Macra; the national round of that competition will be held in Thurles, Co. Tipperary in August.
In total, six from Awbeg Macra represented their club in the Arches Bar and Restaurant last Friday at the event. Up for grabs were the honours of representing Avondhu in the 2018 Mr Personality, Blue Jeans Country Queen, Queen of the Land or Miss Macra competitions.
January 13th was certainly a lucky day for the club. Despite it being the first year that the club has ever entered the Capers competition, they have managed to qualify through to the national final which will be held in Mallow on February 3 in the Youth Centre. Awbeg’s producer, Heather Healy, was also awarded the Best Producer gong for her work with the team.
Preparations have begun for Awbeg Macra’s annual club fundraiser, the Stag of Avondhu, which will be held on Saturday, March 3. This great night out is the culmination of Awbeg’s efforts to find Cork’s most bachelor. The hunt is on! eligible
