GALTEE WHEELERS ON THEIR BIKES FOR SEASON AHEAD

-

SUNDAY saw a big improvement in the weather front and it was great to see a large turnout that included some new faces at New Square for the second Sunday spin of 2018. As like other years, the months of January and February are all about getting the fitness levels up and ‘ the miles into the legs’ with the routes increasing slightly over the coming weeks that will have everyone eager and ready for the summer months.

The route on Sunday saw the group head over to Kilcoran where they turned at the Roundabout and made their way back to Mitchelstown.

As usual, the Galtee Wheelers Cycling Club meet in The Square every Sunday morning at 9am. New members are most welcome.

Meanwhile, anyone looking for a challenge or something to aim for this year, then The Better Life Cycle in aid of St Joseph’s Foundation Charleville will see cyclists head to Dungarvan on Saturday, June 2, for the Copper Coast Tour.

Like the previous two years, there are two routes – 150 kms and 65/75 kms – to choose from.

Both routes hug the coast to Bonmahon, where the shorter route heads inland to Kilmacthomas and onto Mahon Bridge.

Here cyclists have the option of adding the Mahon Falls climb which adds 10 kilometers to the overall distance. The longer route continues to Annestown from Bonmahon to Tramore, Passage East, Waterford, Kilmeadan, Carrock on Suir, Mahon Falls and back to Dungarvan. Registration is now open.
